Cameron Niven
Cameron is a highly regarded legal practitioner known for his dedication to assisting members of the Australian Defence Force. Notably, Cameron works alongside The Pineapple Express and other ex-Australian Defence Force organisations providing advice and support where possible.
Before commencing his legal career, Cameron served full-time in the Australian Defence Force (Army) as Military Police, posted to 1 MP BN, A Coy.
While serving Cameron conducted a review and assessment of Military Police’s operational procedures against international requirements and thereafter assisted in a Military Police modernisation process by developing foundational learnings which were later adopted as a module of the Military Police Basic Course.
It was also while serving that Cameron commenced his legal studies through the Defence Assisted Study Scheme. This study was not supported by A Coy’s hierarchy, which were adamant a Private was not entitled to undertake further studies. This situation was resolved when Cameron’s colleague interceded and had a one-way conversation with the Officer Commanding, A Coy. Following this, and notwithstanding the acrimonious approach adopted by Cameron’s hierarchy, he went on to commence a Bachelor of Laws and, since this time, has read for a Master of Laws from the University of Queensland and the University of Melbourne.
However, it was through interactions with poor hierarchy that Cameron realised there was a need to support members of the Australian Defence Force who may be laboring under inadequate leadership.
